How do you play Word Rain Typing?
Words drift down like raindrops. Type a word exactly and press Enter before it reaches the ground to pop it and score. It plays like the classic falling word games from old typing tutors and is a fun way to build speed.
The English set has over 1,600 everyday words, and there is a Korean set with over 1,500 common nouns and verbs. Capital letters are fine. If the same word appears twice, the lower one goes first.
What are the rules?
| Ground (lives) | There are ten tiles at the bottom. Each word that lands soaks a tile, and the game is over when all ten are wet. |
|---|---|
| Levels | Every 20 words you clear, the level goes up. Words fall faster, show up more often and get longer. |
| Yellow word | Freeze: every word stops for 3.5 seconds. |
| Pink word | Clear all: wipes every word on screen and adds half their points. |
| Mint word | Slow: words fall at less than half speed for 7 seconds. |
| Score | Longer words, higher levels and unbroken streaks score more, plus a bonus each time you level up. |
How is WPM counted?
WPM is the letters of the words you typed correctly, divided by five, per minute of play. Every five letters count as one word, the usual typing test rule. The Korean page shows keystrokes per minute instead.
Tips for a high score
- Take the lowest word first. Words near the top still have time.
- Save colored words for emergencies. One pink word clears a crowded screen.
- Fix typos before you press Enter. A wrong word breaks your streak bonus.
- Watch the screen, not the keyboard. Touch typing is where real speed comes from.
On phones the on screen keyboard opens when you start, and the input box sits at the top of the board so it never hides the words. If the keyboard closes, tap the board. Best scores for the English and Korean sets are saved separately in this browser.
