How do you play Road Hopper?
You guide a clay chick one hop at a time across an endless stream of roads, rivers and train tracks. Your score is the farthest row you reach, and the run ends if you get hit by a car or train or fall into the water.
New rows keep coming forever and slowly get harder: cars speed up, trucks show up more often and trains pass more frequently. Every row is still generated so that it can be crossed.
What kinds of rows are there?
| Grass | Safe ground. Trees and rocks block the way, but every grass row always leaves an open tile to keep going. |
|---|---|
| Road | Cars and trucks drive in one direction. Get hit and the chick goes flat. |
| River | You cannot stand in the water. Ride drifting logs or hop on still lily pads. Riding a log off the edge of the screen also ends the run. |
| Rails | When the signal on the left flashes red and the bell rings, a very fast train is about to come through. |
| Cloud | The view creeps forward on its own. Fall too far behind and the cloud following you rolls over the chick. |
How is the score counted?
The score is the farthest row you have reached from the start. Stepping back and coming forward again never lowers it. Coins on the ground are counted separately and shown on the results screen.
Tips for going farther
- Pause on the grass before a road. Watch for a gap and cross in one go.
- Land near the middle of a log. Standing on the end can carry you off screen before the next log lines up.
- Never step on the tracks while the signal flashes. The train is too fast to dodge.
- Do not rest too long. The cloud never stops, so keep moving whenever it is safe.
- Blocked by trees? Go sideways. A short detour always opens a path.
