How do you play Deep Sea Fishing?
Drop your line from the boat, avoid every fish on the way down, then once something bites, steer into as many fish as you can on the way back up. Everything you pull out of the water pops into shiny coins that count as your score.
The hook sinks on its own until the line runs out. Touch a fish on the way down and it becomes your first catch and the hook starts rising right away, so the longer you dodge, the better the fish you meet.
What are the rules?
| Going down | The hook sinks to the end of the line. Touching a fish hooks it and starts the climb. |
|---|---|
| Coming up | The hook rises faster than it fell and catches every fish it touches until the hook is full. |
| Coins | The values of everything you land add up to your score for the cast, paid in coins. |
| Depth | Deeper water holds rarer, more valuable fish. An anchovy is worth 1 coin, the golden fish 200. |
| Fish book | Every new species goes into the fish book along with how many you have caught. |
What can you upgrade with coins?
Coins are just in game points that pay for line length, hook size, shield and magnet. Nothing is sold for real money.
- Line: grows from 60 m to 1500 m. You need it to reach the rare deep sea species.
- Hook: how many fish you can carry up at once, from 3 to 30.
- Shield: bumps a fish away on the way down instead of hooking it, up to 4 times per cast.
- Magnet: widens the reach of the hook on the way up so nearby fish get pulled in.
Tips for a bigger catch
- Pick your gap early on the way down. Watch which way the fish below are swimming and slide into the open space before you reach them.
- Upgrade the hook and the line in turns. A deep dive is wasted if you can only bring back three fish.
- Chase the big ones on the way up. Large deep sea fish are worth far more than small ones.
- Shields pay off on long lines. Surviving one or two bumps in crowded deep water can buy you hundreds of meters.
