How do you play Memory Match?
Memory Match is a card game where you flip two face down cards at a time and keep them if the pictures match. If they do not match, both cards turn back over, so the trick is remembering where each picture was.
The 18 pictures are hand drawn clay style animals and fruits, from a cat, puppy and panda to an apple, strawberry and watermelon. The game is also known as Concentration, Pairs or Match Up.
What are the rules?
| Board sizes | 4×3 (6 pairs, easy) · 4×4 (8 pairs) · 6×5 (15 pairs) · 6×6 (18 pairs, hard) |
|---|---|
| Solo | Your time and moves are counted. Each pair of flips is one move. Your best record is saved for every size. |
| Two players | Take turns on one screen. Find a pair and you go again. Miss and it is the other player's turn. Most pairs wins. |
| Vs computer | The computer remembers each card it sees about 30% of the time on Easy, 60% on Normal and 90% on Hard. |
| Peek | When on, every card is shown for 1.5 seconds before the game starts. |
Tips for a better memory score
- Open an unseen card first. Your first flip should add new information.
- If you already saw its partner, go straight to it. That is a guaranteed pair.
- Remember positions as row and column. "Second row, far left is the penguin" sticks better than a vague picture.
- Watch your opponent's flips. Every miss they make is a free clue for your turn.
You can never finish in fewer moves than there are pairs, so 6 pairs takes at least 6 moves. Best solo times and moves for each board size are saved in this browser.
