How do you play Mini Golf?
Pull back from the ball and let go to putt it the opposite way. Every stroke until the ball drops in the cup counts, and the player with the lowest total after 18 holes wins.
Each course is a bright clay green seen from above. Every hole has its own shape and obstacles, and the top of the screen shows the hole number and its par. You can also play just the front nine for a quick round.
What obstacles are on the course?
| Obstacle | What it does |
|---|---|
| Walls, rocks and bumpers | The ball bounces off. Pink bumpers bounce harder. |
| Slopes (arrow pattern) | The ball drifts the way the arrows point. Putt firmly to climb against them. |
| Sand | Slows the ball down fast. |
| Ponds | One penalty stroke, and the ball goes back to where you putted from. |
| Windmill blades and sliding walls | They keep moving, so time your putt for the gap. |
| Tunnels | The ball drops in and pops out of the exit of the same color, heading the way its arrow points. |
What do par, birdie and eagle mean?
Par is the expected number of strokes for a hole. One under par is a birdie, two under is an eagle, sinking it in one is a hole in one, and one over is a bogey.
- Scorecard: every finished hole adds each player's strokes to the card. Yellow circles are birdies, pink ones are eagles and aces.
- Stroke limit: once you reach five over par on a hole, that score is written down and play moves on.
- Speed at the cup: a ball that rolls over the cup too fast lips out instead of dropping.
- Multiplayer: 2 to 4 players take turns one stroke at a time on the same screen. Other balls are shown faded and never collide.
How do you shoot a lower score?
- Get the speed right first. A putt that stops near the cup leaves an easy tap in, even if the line was a little off.
- Use the walls. On doglegs there is usually a bank shot that rounds the corner in one go.
- Aim uphill on side slopes. Aim against the arrows and let the slope bring the ball back to the middle.
- Putt right after a windmill blade passes. That is when the gap between blades is widest.
- Near water, two soft putts beat one risky one. A splash costs a stroke and sends you back.
