How do you play pinball?
Keep the steel ball in play by hitting it back up with the left and right flippers, and score by striking bumpers, targets and lanes. You get three balls. A ball is lost when it falls between the flippers or down one of the outer lanes.
Each ball starts in the shooter lane on the right. The longer you hold the launch key, the further the plunger pulls back and the harder the ball flies. Launch too softly and it rolls back to the plunger.
How many points is each target worth?
| What you hit | Points |
|---|---|
| Pop bumper (3) | 100, kicks the ball away hard |
| Slingshot (triangle above a flipper) | 50, kicks the ball sideways |
| Drop target | 500, falls down when hit |
| All four drop targets | 2,500 and multiplier +1 |
| Top star lane | 200, lights the star |
| All three star lanes | 3,000 |
| Inlane | 100 |
Every score is multiplied by the current multiplier.
How do you raise the multiplier?
Knock down all four orange drop targets in the middle and the multiplier goes up by one, up to ×5. The bank pops back up a moment later. Losing a ball resets the multiplier to ×1.
What are nudging and tilt?
Nudging (T) bumps the table to push the ball a little off its path. It can save a ball that is about to drain, but nudge too often in a short time and you get a warning, then a tilt.
- Warning: a Careful sign appears. Wait a moment and the shake meter cools down.
- Tilt: the flippers go dead and nothing scores until that ball drains.
- Shooter lane: you cannot nudge while the ball is in the shooter lane.
Tips for a high score
- Do not flip at random. Hit the ball when it is near the tip of the flipper to send it high and far.
- Trap the ball. Hold a flipper up and the ball settles against it, so you can aim calmly.
- Go for the targets first. A higher multiplier makes every later shot worth more.
- Move the star lights with the flippers. Each flip shifts the lit lanes, so you can line up an unlit lane with the ball.
- Nudge once, not three times. Repeated nudges tilt the table and cost you the whole ball.
What are the controls?
- Computer: ← or Z for the left flipper, → or / for the right flipper. Hold Space or ↓ and let go to launch, and press T to nudge.
- Phone and tablet: tap the left half of the screen for the left flipper and the right half for the right flipper. With the ball on the plunger, hold the right half and let go to launch. Use the Nudge button at the top to nudge.
