How do you play Solitaire?
Win by moving all 52 cards onto the four foundations at the top right, one suit each, from Ace to King. These are the classic Klondike rules, the card game that came with Windows.
Seven columns are dealt with one to seven cards and only the top card face up. Tap the stock at the top left to turn over more cards.
Where can cards go?
- Columns: stack down in alternating colors, one rank lower. A red 7 goes on a black 8.
- Empty columns: only a King, or a run starting with a King.
- Foundations: one suit each, Ace first, then up in order.
- Runs: face up cards in a column can be moved together.
- Flipping: a face down card left on top turns over by itself.
What is the difference between draw 1 and draw 3?
It is how many cards turn over from the stock at a time. Draw 1 lets you reach every card and is easier. Draw 3 only lets you play the top one and is much harder. You can go through the stock as many times as you like.
Tips
- Work on the columns with the most face down cards. Hidden cards are what block you.
- Only empty a column when you have a King for it.
- Do not rush low cards to the foundations. You may need them to hold other cards.
- Use undo freely. It is unlimited, so try another line when stuck.
