How does Spin the Wheel work?
Type your options one per line, tap Make the wheel, then tap the wheel. It spins, slows down and stops, and the slice under the pointer at the top is your pick. It works just like a prize wheel or a random name picker.
You can add 2 to 30 items of up to 20 characters each. As the wheel slows, the pointer clicks against the pegs between slices, and when it stops the winning slice glows and a result card pops up. The last 50 picks stay in the history list.
Is an online spinner wheel really random?
Yes. The moment you spin, the stopping angle is drawn uniformly from the whole circle with the browser's cryptographic random generator (crypto.getRandomValues), and the wheel is driven to stop exactly there. So every item's chance equals the share of the circle its slice covers.
A hard flick or a gentle tap only changes how many turns the wheel makes and how long it takes to stop, never the odds. In a test of one million draws on five slices with different weights, every slice landed within 0.1 percentage points of its expected share.
Can I make one option more likely?
Yes. Put an asterisk and a number after an item (*2, *3) and its slice becomes that many times wider, so its chance grows by exactly that much. Any weight from 0.1 to 99 works.
| If you type | On the wheel |
|---|---|
| Pizza | One normal slice (weight 1) |
| Pizza*2 | A double width slice. With three other items at 1, a 40% chance |
| Pass*0.5 | A half width slice |
| The same word on two lines | Two separate slices, twice the chance |
| A blank line | Skipped |
The result card shows the chance of the slice that won, so you can check your weights at a glance.
What ready made lists are there?
Seven common lists fill in with one tap, and you can edit them afterwards.
| Set | Items |
|---|---|
| Lunch | Pizza, Burger, Sushi, Tacos, Ramen, Salad and more, 12 in all |
| Dinner | Fried chicken, Steak, Korean BBQ, Hot pot and more, 10 in all |
| Dares | Sing a line, Do an impression, 10 push ups, Give 3 compliments and more, 8 in all |
| Chores | Dishes, Vacuum, Trash, Laundry, Bathroom, Groceries, Day off |
| Numbers 1 to 10 | Ten slices from 1 to 10 |
| Yes / No | Two slices |
| Split teams | Four Team A slices and four Team B slices |
What does Remove and spin do?
It takes the slice that just won off the wheel, lets the remaining slices share the circle again and spins right away. Nothing comes up twice, which makes it perfect for setting an order or splitting teams.
- Speaking order: enter everyone's name and keep tapping Remove and spin. The order they come out is the order they go.
- Teams: the Split teams set has four Team A and four Team B slices, so eight people each spinning once with removal end up four and four.
- Put back: the Put back button at the bottom returns every removed slice. Your typed list is never deleted.
Can I send my wheel to a friend?
Yes. The Share button builds a link that carries your items and weights. Whoever opens it gets the same wheel straight away.
The link holds a compact copy of the list only, never your history. Share result on the result card turns the winning item into a picture card instead.
Tips for a fair and fun spin
- Agree on the list before you spin. Editing items after the result is out kills everyone's trust.
- Promise to take the first result. Spinning until you like the answer defeats the point of a wheel.
- Keep dares light. Only add ones everybody can laugh about.
- Spin it where everyone can see. The last few clicks, when the pointer may or may not tip over the next peg, are the best part.
Controls
- Touch or mouse: tap the wheel or the yellow center button to spin. Grab the wheel and flick it to spin in that direction. The harder the flick, the longer it runs.
- Keyboard: Space or Enter to spin, X to remove the winner and spin again, R to put removed slices back, H for history, E or Esc to edit the list. In the list box, Ctrl+Enter makes the wheel.
Your list and history stay in this browser and are never sent to a server. A share link does contain the list text, so leave out any names you would not want others to see.
