How do you play Word Guess?
Guess the hidden five letter word in six tries. After each guess the tiles change color to show which letters are right. It plays just like Wordle, the daily word game that went viral in 2022.
Say the answer is TRAIN and you guess CRANE. R and A turn green because they are in the right spots, N turns yellow because it is in the word but somewhere else, and C and E turn gray.
What do the colors mean?
| Color | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Green | The letter is in the word and in that exact spot. |
| Yellow | The letter is in the word but in a different spot. |
| Gray | The letter is not in the word, or you used it more times than the word has it. |
- Repeated letters: greens are marked first, then yellows from left to right, but only as many as the answer still has. If the answer has one E, a guess with two E's only lights up one of them.
- Real words only: a guess has to be in the word list. A rejected guess does not use up a try.
- Winning: turn every tile green within six guesses.
Tips for solving faster
- Open with common letters. Words with E, A, R, T, S and O narrow things down quickly.
- Avoid gray letters. The keyboard colors keep track of everything you have learned.
- Move yellow letters around. Putting a yellow letter in the same spot again tells you nothing new.
- Remember letters can repeat. Words like SPEED and LLAMA trip up a lot of players.
Is there a Korean version?
Yes. The Korean version hides a two syllable Korean word split into six jamo, the consonants and vowels you type on a Korean keyboard, with the same six tries and colors.
The daily word changes at midnight Korea time and is the same for everyone. Practice mode gives you a fresh word as often as you like. Your streak and guess distribution are saved in this browser.
