How do you play Basketball Shoot?
It is an arcade basketball machine in your browser: flick the ball toward the hoop and score as many points as you can in 60 seconds. A new ball rolls in right after every throw, so you can keep shooting without a break.
The ball flies in a real arc and gets smaller as it travels away from you. It can bounce off the rim, roll around and drop in, or go in off the backboard for a bank shot. When the clock hits zero, any ball already in the air still counts.
How does scoring work?
| What happens | Points |
|---|---|
| Basket | 2 points, whether it is clean or goes in off the rim or the board. |
| Swish | Nothing but net, without touching the rim or the backboard: 1 bonus point, 3 in total. |
| 2 in a row | The ball catches fire and every basket after that is worth double. |
| 5 in a row | The fire gets bigger and every basket after that is worth triple. A swish is then worth 9. |
| Miss | Once the ball hits the floor, your streak and multiplier reset. |
Why does the hoop start moving?
After 30 seconds the hoop starts sliding from side to side, and it speeds up as the clock runs down. It works like the second half on a real arcade machine. The ball takes about a second to reach the hoop, so aim a little ahead of where it is going.
Tips for a high score
- Repeat the same flick. Flick speed is power. Once a shot goes in, copy that motion and the streak keeps going.
- Read the hint. After a miss the game tells you to throw a bit harder or a bit softer.
- Protect your streak. From five in a row a basket is worth 6 to 9 points, so one sure shot beats three rushed ones.
- Catch the moving hoop at the ends. It slows down for a moment at each side, which is the easiest time to hit it.
