How do you play Table Tennis?
Slide your paddle to return the ball and score whenever your opponent misses. The first player to 11 points wins, and from 10 all you have to get two points ahead. The table is seen from above, just like the classic table tennis arcade games from the early days of video games.
If the ball gets past your paddle at the bottom, your opponent scores. Get it past the top paddle and the point is yours. The ball bounces off the long sides of the table.
What are the rules?
| Winning score | First to 11. From 10 all you need a two point lead (deuce) |
|---|---|
| Serve | The ball starts from the server's paddle by itself. The serve switches every two points, and every point from 10 all. |
| Angles | Hit the ball with the middle of the paddle to send it straight, or with the edge to send it off at up to 60 degrees. |
| Ball speed | Every return makes it a little faster. It resets after each point. |
| Opponents | Computer on Easy, Normal or Hard, or two players on one screen |
How do you aim the ball?
It depends on where the ball meets your paddle. Catch it on the right edge and it flies off to the right, on the left edge and it goes left. Moving the paddle as you hit adds a little extra curve in that direction.
Tips
- Hit with the edges. Straight returns are easy to handle. Angled shots bounce off the sides and drag your opponent across the table.
- Get back to the middle after every hit. Waiting on one side leaves the other side wide open.
- Read the bounce early. Move to where the ball will arrive instead of chasing it, or fast balls will get past you.
- Attack in long rallies. The faster the ball, the more mistakes your opponent makes. That is the moment for a sharp angle.
Your wins against each computer level and your longest rally are saved in this browser. In two player mode the top player's score and messages are flipped to face them, so you can sit across from each other.
