How do you play Water Balloon Battle?
Two clay toy carts take turns picking an angle and power to lob water balloons, and the first to drain the other cart's dry points to 0 wins. It plays like classic artillery games such as Worms or Scorched Earth, with water and flour instead of shells.
Every match gets a fresh landscape, and each splash digs a round crater. If the ground under a cart is blasted away it falls, and a cart that drops into the sea loses on the spot. Play the computer on Easy, Normal or Hard, or pass the device back and forth with a friend.
What are the rules?
| Dry points | Both carts start at 100. The closer a balloon bursts, the more it soaks. At 0 the cart is drenched and loses. |
|---|---|
| Turns | One throw per turn. Once every balloon has burst, the other player goes. |
| Wind | Changes direction and strength (0 to 10) every turn and keeps pushing balloons sideways in flight. |
| Fuel | Refills each turn and limits how far you can drive. Steep slopes cannot be climbed. |
| Ground | Every burst digs a round hole. A cart with nothing under it falls, and the sea means a loss. |
| Self splash | Your own balloons soak you too, so do not throw too close. |
What balloons can you throw?
There are three. The normal balloon is unlimited, the triple balloon comes 3 per match and the mole bomb 2 per match.
- 💧 Balloon: the biggest single splash. A direct hit takes off more than 30.
- 💦 Triple: splits into three at the top of its arc and spreads out. Each one is weaker, but it is hard to miss completely.
- ⛏ Mole: burrows straight on when it lands, then bursts in a puff of flour. Great for carts hiding behind hills or in tunnels.
Tips
- Adjust from your last shot. The small triangle on the power bar marks your previous power. Short means a bit more, long means a bit less.
- Throw low in strong wind. The longer a balloon flies, the further the wind carries it. Into a headwind, drop the angle and add power.
- Around 45 degrees goes furthest. Only go above 60 when you need to clear a hill.
- Aim at their feet. Even a near miss can dig out the ground so the cart falls, maybe right into the sea.
- Use your fuel. If the other side has your range, a few steps are enough to make the next balloon miss.
The computer works out wind and terrain before it throws, but its hand shakes more on lower levels. Easy misses a lot and Hard lands most first shots. Your wins and losses per level are saved in this browser.
