What is the difference between Sun, Moon and rising signs?
The Sun describes your core character and direction, the Moon your feelings and inner needs, and the rising sign (Ascendant) the first impression you give.
Anyone with the same birthday shares a Sun sign, but the Moon changes sign every two and a half days. The rising sign is the sign coming up on the eastern horizon at the moment of birth and changes about every two hours, so it needs your birth time and city.
What if I don't know my birth time?
Tick Unknown and the chart is cast for noon. The rising sign and houses, which depend on the exact time, are left out.
Your Sun sign and most planet signs stay correct. The Moon moves about 13 degrees a day, so if it changed signs on your birthday your Moon sign may differ. Enter the time in 24-hour format (2 pm = 14).
What are houses and aspects?
Houses split the sky into twelve areas of life such as work, money, love and home. Aspects are the angles between planets and show whether two forces work together or clash.
- Conjunction (0°): two forces blend into one.
- Sextile (60°) and trine (120°): easy, supportive angles.
- Square (90°) and opposition (180°): tense angles that push for change.
How are the planet positions calculated?
The chart uses real astronomical calculation for the exact moment and place you were born, not lookup tables.
- Zodiac: tropical zodiac, the standard in Western astrology
- Houses: Placidus, the most widely used system
- Time zone: the historical time zone and daylight saving time of your birthplace
