What kind of game is Fruit Catch?
Fruit Catch is a casual game where you slide a basket left and right to catch fruit dropping from the orchard trees and collect the points of everything you catch. The rules are simple enough for young kids, while combos and modes give grown ups a reason to chase a high score.
A big blossoming tree sways along the top of the screen. Each fruit hangs from a branch and wobbles for a moment before it drops, so you can see where it will fall. Every catch gives a soft pop and a splash of juice, and the last five fruits you caught pile up on top of the basket. The sunny orchard with drifting petals, the woven wicker basket and all eight glossy fruits are drawn entirely in code.
Are fruits worth different points?
Yes. Common fruit is worth less, and rare, faster fruit is worth more. The most common apple and tangerine are 10 points, and the rare peach is 30.
| What falls | Points | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Apple · Tangerine | 10 | Fall most often |
| Pear · Strawberry | 15 | Strawberries fall a little faster |
| Grapes · Banana | 20 | Moderately rare |
| Watermelon slice | 25 | Heavy, so it drops fast |
| Peach | 30 | Rarest and fastest |
| Golden apple | 50 | Doubles every catch for 5 seconds |
| Rotten fruit · Stone · Beehive | Penalty | Minus 30, 20 and 40 points in 60 Seconds and Two Players, one heart in Jam Orders and Survival. Your basket also slows for a moment |
Catch fruit after fruit without a miss to build a combo. Every 5 combo adds 0.25 to the multiplier, so from 20 combo on every catch is worth double. Missing a fruit (in Jam Orders, catching fruit that is not on the order) or catching a hazard resets the combo.
What modes are there?
There are three solo modes, 60 Seconds, Jam Orders and Survival, plus Two Players on one screen.
- 60 Seconds: the basic mode. Catch as much as you can in 60 seconds while the fruit drops faster and more often.
- Jam Orders: catch only the fruit on the order card to make jam. Off order fruit costs 10 points, and filling an order gives you a jar of jam and bonus points. It lasts 80 seconds and ends early if you catch three hazards.
- Survival: no time limit. The run ends when 10 fruits hit the ground or you catch three hazards. It keeps speeding up, and after 12 seconds the wind starts to push falling fruit from side to side.
- Two Players: the screen splits in half and each player has a basket. Both halves get exactly the same fruit in the same order, so only skill decides the winner.
How do I get a high score?
- Watch the hanging fruit. Each fruit wobbles on its branch and then falls straight down. Move under it while it is still hanging.
- Protect your combo. From 20 combo every catch is double, so chasing one pricey fruit and dropping two cheap ones is a bad trade.
- Use the edge of the basket. Anything inside the rim counts. When a hazard lands close by, catch the fruit with the far edge of the basket.
- Go for golden apples. 50 points plus 5 seconds of double score can change a whole run. They sparkle, so you can spot them early.
- Check the order card in Jam Orders. Off order fruit is just another hazard. Fill the item with the fewest left first to move on quickly.
What ranks can I get?
In 60 Seconds your score earns one of six ranks: Seedling Helper, Busy Picker, Orchard Hand, Basket Pro, Catch Master and Orchard Owner. Jam Orders ranks you by the jars you made, from Jam Apprentice to Legendary Jam Maker.
The result screen also shows how many fruits you caught, your best combo and your golden apples. Tap Share result to turn your score into a picture card for friends.
Is it good for kids?
Yes. The basket simply follows a finger or the mouse, so there are no buttons to learn, and the art is a bright orchard with round, friendly fruit.
The first seconds are slow and calm with no hazards, which makes a good warm up. Two Players lets a parent and child play side by side on one screen.
Controls
- Mouse: move the pointer over the screen and the basket follows. No clicking needed.
- Phone or tablet: put a finger on the screen and drag left or right. In Two Players each player uses one half of the screen.
- Keyboard: ← → or A D to move. In Two Players 1P uses A D and 2P uses ← →. Space or Enter starts or restarts.
- Buttons: 🔊 at the top right toggles sound, ⌂ returns to the title.
