How do you play Shooting Gallery?

Use the cork gun at the bottom of the screen to hit targets moving along the shelves. Every hit scores, and when the 60 seconds are up your total decides which prize you take home. It is the classic duck shooting booth from a carnival or a fairground, built for the browser.

String lights twinkle under a red and cream striped awning while three wooden shelves (five on a tall phone screen) slide past in different directions and speeds. Ducks and bullseyes tip over backwards with a ding, tin cans crumple and bounce away, and glass bottles shatter into shards. A fresh target pops up in an empty spot 2 to 4 seconds later, so the shelves never run dry, and the shelves speed up over the round until they move 45% faster than at the start.

How many points is each target worth?

Wooden ducks and bullseye discs are 10, tin cans 15, glass bottles 20, star plates 25 and the gold duck 50. Hitting the red hand sign costs you 30 points.

Wooden duck10Tips over backwards with a ding

Glass bottle20Shatters into shards
Star plate25Falls with a bright chime
Gold duck50Shows up on the top shelf every few seconds and bursts into confetti
Red hand signminus 30, combo lostDo not shoot this one

Some ducks, discs and stars spin around every few seconds to show their plywood back. While the back is showing, corks pass straight through, so wait for the front to come round again.

How does the combo multiplier work?

Hit target after target without a miss and your combo grows. Every five hits in a row raise the multiplier one step, up to 4x. A single miss or a shot at the hand sign resets it.

Hits in a rowMultiplier
1st to 5th1x
6th to 10th2x
11th to 15th3x
16th and on4x

The small badge above the score plate shows the current multiplier and five dots for the hits left to the next step. A gold duck at 4x is worth 200 points in one shot.

How do ammo and reloading work?

The gun holds 8 corks, and once they are gone you must reload before you can shoot again. Tap the round arrow button at the bottom right, press R or right click to reload in 0.9 seconds.

The corks standing on the counter show how many shots you have left. You can reload early at any time, and pulling the trigger on an empty gun just clicks and flashes the reload sign. There is no limit on reloads, but you cannot shoot while loading, so do it when the shelves are quiet.

What are the three modes?

60 sec score is the standard game, Precision asks you to hit the dead center of smaller targets, and 2 players takes turns on one device for 30 seconds each.

ModeTimeWhat changes
60 sec score60 secondsNormal size targets. Bullseye discs pay double near the center
Precision60 secondsTargets shrink to 72% and slow down a little. Every target wears a bullseye sticker: the center pays 3x and the inner ring 2x
2 players30 seconds eachPlayer 1 shoots for 30 seconds, then player 2. The crosshair turns red or blue and the higher score wins

How are prizes decided?

At the end of a round your score earns a lollipop, a small teddy, a medium teddy or the giant teddy. The prize bounces down onto the result card, and bigger prizes come with light rays and sparkles.

Prize60 sec scorePrecision2 players (winner)
Lollipopunder 400under 500under 200
Small teddy400+500+200+
Medium teddy1,000+1,300+500+
Giant teddy2,000+2,600+1,000+

In the two solo modes the result card also tells you how many points you were short of the next prize.

How can I get a higher score?

  1. Wait on the side the targets come in from. A target that has just entered the screen stays in view the longest, so there is no need to rush.
  2. Protect your combo. Picking off nearby targets one after another beats chasing far ones, thanks to the multiplier.
  3. Watch out next to the hand sign. When a target travels right beside it, wait a beat before you shoot.
  4. Never miss the gold duck. It appears on the top shelf every 7 to 12 seconds and glows, so it is easy to spot.
  5. Reload with two or three corks left. An empty gun when the gold duck arrives hurts.
  6. Go for bottles and cans. They are smaller than ducks but pay 1.5 to 2 times as much.

Frequently asked questions

Is Shooting Gallery free?

Yes. It is free with no sign up and runs in the browser on computers, phones and tablets.

Which target should I not shoot?

The red octagon sign with a white hand on it. Hitting it costs 30 points and breaks your combo. When it rides right next to another target, wait a beat before you fire.

How many shots do I get and how do I reload?

The gun holds 8 corks. Reload in 0.9 seconds with the round arrow button at the bottom right, the R key or a right click. There is no limit on reloads.

What is different in Precision mode?

Targets shrink to 72% and move a little slower. Every target carries a bullseye sticker: hitting its dead center pays 3x and the inner ring 2x.

How do two players play?

Pick 2 players on the title screen. Player 1 shoots for 30 seconds, then player 2 takes a turn on the same device. The higher score wins and earns the prize.

How high can the combo multiplier go?

It rises one step for every five hits in a row and reaches 4x from the 16th hit. A single miss drops it back to 1x.

My finger covers the targets on my phone.

Tap the touch aim button on the title screen to switch to drag aim. The crosshair floats a little above your finger and the gun fires when you lift it.

Is this like a carnival duck shoot?

Yes. It is modeled on the cork gun duck shooting booths at fairs and amusement parks. You only hit wooden ducks, tin cans, glass bottles, bullseye discs and star plates.
