What is Laser Mirror Maze?
Laser Mirror Maze is a light reflection puzzle where you bend the beam from a laser emitter with mirrors until it reaches every crystal orb on the grid. You place the pieces from your tray on empty cells, turn them to plan the path of light, and the level is complete the moment the last orb lights up.
The beam is redrawn from the emitter the instant you place or turn a piece, so you see the result of every move right away. Light passes through crystal orbs and keeps going, so a single beam can light several orbs in a row. It is the classic laser maze or mirror puzzle, played on a glowing neon board.
Which pieces and devices are on the board?
There are three kinds of pieces you place and turn, and five devices built into the board. Each new element first appears on an easy level where it is the only new idea to learn.
| Element | What it does | First level |
|---|---|---|
| Mirror | Turns light by a right angle. Each tap flips it between / and \ | 1 |
| Locked mirror | A mirror on a dark bolted base. It cannot be moved or turned | 5 |
| Beam splitter | Lets half the light straight through and turns the other half like a mirror, splitting the beam in two | 9 |
| Color filter (red, green, blue) | Tints white light its own color, lets the same color through and blocks any other color | 14 |
| Crystal orb | A clear orb lights up with any light, a colored orb only with light of its color | 1 |
| Wall | Stops light in a shower of sparks. No piece can go there | 1 |
| Black hole | Swallows any light that enters, so the path has to go around it | 19 |
| Portal | Sends light to its matching portal and out again in the same direction | 23 |
| Two emitters | Levels where two beams must be routed together | 22 |
How do you clear a level?
A level is complete when every crystal orb on the board is glowing at the same time. The small row of orbs at the top left shows how many there are and how many are lit.
You do not have to use every piece in the tray, but all 40 levels are built so that they cannot be solved with even one piece fewer. If you have pieces left over, the path of light is not finished yet. When the rim of a colored orb flickers in another color, light is reaching it but the color is wrong.
How do stars work?
Clear a level with no hints for 3 stars, with one hint for 2 stars, and with two or more hints for 1 star. Replaying a level and earning more stars raises your record, and three stars on all 40 levels makes 120.
Levels 1 to 3 are open from the start, and every level you clear opens the next three after it. If a level has you stuck, skip ahead and come back later. The level select screen shows the stars you have earned on each level.
How do the hint and undo buttons work?
The hint button (💡) flies one piece of the solution out of the tray and drops it in its correct cell. If a piece already sits in a solution cell but faces the wrong way, the hint turns it, and a piece in the wrong cell is sent back to the tray.
Undo (↶, Z) steps back one place, turn or removal at a time, and Restart (⟲, R) sends every piece you placed back to the tray. A restart can be undone too.
Tips for solving laser puzzles
- Work backward from the orbs. A light path works the same in both directions, so tracing from an orb toward the emitter often reveals where the mirrors belong.
- Light orbs in a line with one beam. Light passes through orbs, so orbs in the same row or column can all be lit by a single beam.
- Place filters first for colored orbs. After a filter the beam takes its color and still lights clear orbs, but it cannot pass a filter of another color.
- Splitters go at forks. When orbs are scattered in different directions, the cell where two paths part is a likely spot for a splitter.
- Locked mirrors are clues. Pieces you cannot move are part of the solution, so start by working out which way light must enter them.
Controls
- Touch or mouse: drag a piece from the tray onto an empty cell. While you drag, the beam is previewed as if the piece were placed there. Tap a placed piece to turn it, drag it to move it, or drag it off the board to return it to the tray. You can also tap a tray piece to select it and then tap empty cells to place it.
- Keyboard: arrows or WASD to choose a cell, Space or Enter to place or turn, number keys 1 to 5 to pick a tray piece, Delete or X to remove, Z undo, H hint, R restart, L or Esc for level select.
Every one of the 40 levels was checked with a solver: its solution lights every orb, it cannot be solved with fewer pieces, and 27 of them have exactly one solution. Stars and unlocked levels stay in this browser and are never sent to a server.
